Tavern colours

This is a design for the tavern setting for my project... The tavern plays a very important role in my piece, almost acting as the 7th character. It's where the majority of the episodes start and end.

"The inside of the tavern is warm. low-key lit by spaced out lanterns and overhanging lamps. A fireplace casts waves of flickering shadows across the cobbled floor simulating water. The walls are lined with memorabilia from forgotten ages, myths and tales. Old crooked photos and older painted portraits of lost souls. Each piece a story. " - myself

Here's some colour keys showing colour alterations and possibilities.

This one, changed slightly, could be used almost as a night time / lights out version to the original... much colder, darker and greater contrast.

As it stands... The characters for my series pitch from left to right: Vlad, Skuld, Oldman, Jim, Morgan and Wallace.

For my niece Zaria

A piece for my niece... She's 7 months old... (sort of more for my brother Daniel and his girlfriend Kellie for xmas more than anything)

It's Zaria's first Christmas so the family's trying to make it extra special and awesome! I sure hope this piece, whatever my brother does with it, doesn't scare poor Zaria... Aliens and robots are suited for everybody aren't they?... except perhaps when they're abducting elephants :D

I'm still really gay for the photoshop pen tool / cell shaded / collage-ey work... Hopefully as soon as I get good at it I'll move on. Until then, it's paper cutouts for EVERYBODY!

SEA-NILE emerges from the watery depths...

This is a rough group shot concept of the main characters of my animated series idea... There's still a lot to do... The old man is not finalised. So this piece kind of acts as a rough bunch of ideas thrown together. The ghosts (everybody in the back) and their stories are going to be black and white, the old man and the tavern setting are going to be in colour.

I've already talked about Wallace (the deep sea diver) so I should probably mention everybody else...

Right of Wallace is Skuld, the viking chieftan. He looks pissed off (my bad) but I assure you he's a good guy. Back in the 10th century (or something like that), sailing through a fog, his ship got consumed by a mysterious thunderstorm. He saw a bright light in the distance, so decided to sail on towards the possible refuge. On approaching the light his crew were driven insane by a weird screaming noise. Losing control of the ship, and reality, the ship crashed into the light source, a rock formation / island (based on Ball's pyramid). Stranded there for days, Skuld, unaffected by the strange siren call, murdered his crew. resorting to cannibalism. He then later killed himself, haunted by guilt... bleak, I know :)

Here's a picture of Ball's pyramid...

When I feel up to it I'll edit this post with other character info... I've just lost all drive right now..
